I Did It--Deep Breaths, deep breaths . . .

I went to the doctor today and talked it over with him in terms of getting on something to help with anxiety. If you'd like to read the post about how I made this decision you can either click here, or just look down three posts!

He made his recommendations and boom! Here I am! It was really interesting too as we talked about some different things and possible side affects.

My sister's doctor referred her to a couple of articles where they discuss that depression and anxiety are both symptoms of the same thing and my doctor and I talked about that too.

Imagine you and a friend get a cold. Your friend's nose is dripping and can't stop sneezing. You, on the other hand, have a terrible sore throat, a drippy nose, and a cough. Notice how you both have a similar symptom? The drippy nose? It comes from the same condition--a cold, but the symptoms just aren't the same. So will you take different medications? Most likely, you'll both take a nyquil or something like that.

Anxiety and depression act in a similar manner--they're both symptoms of the same thing, so there are often some crossover symptoms of both.

So with that in mind, the medicine I'm starting is called Fluoexetine--the generic form of prozac. I have an appt in about five weeks to meet again with my doctor and evaluate how things are going. I really hope it helps!
