All Diets Work--That's the Problem!

It's exciting to hear people say, "I've lost thirty pounds in the past six weeks!" or whatever it is they say.

And when you hear these people say stuff like that, you think . . . "Hey! Maybe I can do that too."

And the truth is--you can. The truth is anyone can do the cabbage soup diet, Atkins, HCG, or whatever it is they try. And for some people--I'd say a VERY few people it works and the weight stays off.

For some people. But the most likely reason it stays off is because these people developed some healthier habits along the way.

But you know what? Most people gain the weight back and start doing the yo-yo thing.

I've been there. Done it. Again and again. I've been in this process for the past five to six years. Before that I was just gaining weight and bemoaning the fact.

Wait a minute. Isn't this supposed to be a book review? Yes! It is. Trust me--this relates. You see anyone can diet--and this book says that anyone can lose weight--but that's precisely the problem. People want it now! They want it fast. Trust me--I"m guilty of this. Even when I lost weight over a period of eight months--if I wasn't losing at least two pounds a week I'd get upset and defeated.

The thing is this isn't JUST about losing weight. This is all about being healthier, losing weight, and what's best for our bodies.

The simple fact is you have to take in fewer calories than you burn. So if I burn 2000 calories a day, I'm going to HAVE to eat less than that to LOSE WEIGHT.

You hear about diets that say how you can eat anything you want to eat and still lose weight. Well, they're all about burning calories--building enough muscle so you're burning a TON of calories and therefore losing weight. HCG, cabbage soup diet, Weight Watcher's . . . ALL OF THEM TAKE IN FEWER CALORIES.

This isn't rocket science, kids.

Buck up. You can do this. And reasonably too. Yes, it may take you a year. Or maybe two years, but you'll get there in a healthy, happier, better way and you'll STAY THERE. And it will be HEALTHY for you.

And this is what the book is ALL ABOUT. It isn't a read straight through (which I did and it didn't take very long) kind of book. This is a reference guide from someone who has taught people how to lose weight and stay healthy. There are guidelines in figuring out how to track calories (even for those of you who hate the idea of tracking calories).

There are guidelines for portions, guidelines for what kinds of food we should be eating, suggestions for ways we can make little steps in becoming HEALTHIER.

So take your time. Buy this book. It's cheap. And keep it in the kitchen--I have! Or somewhere else where you just might open it up and read through parts of it. Start making little changes now and allow yourself to take the time to lose the weight in a healthy way. After all, if you start now, in a year, maybe two years from now you'll be the thinner, healthy you that you want to be and it's going to stay.

Don't be like I've been. Year after year of getting the weight down and then it's right back up, right back to where I started. Don't do that. And grab this book. It WILL HELP!

To date? I've lost around six more pounds and I'm at 190.4. Would I like this to go faster? HECK YA! But I'm losing and giving myself plenty of time and trying to eat healthy foods (along with my chocolate and the things I LOVE). Just not very much of it. And I'm feeling good about my choices. Good about my weight loss. Good that I can do this. And this book has HELPED ME!

Not sure if it'll be worth it? Go check out the author's website. Hey, that can't hurt. And maybe that'll convince you to take a first step toward the ultimate path of actually being HEALTHY and THIN!!

I'll be right there with you!

Very cool. Good luck! Hopefully I can eat healthy and burn enough calories so that I don't gain a TON of weight this pregnancy. I'm already doing better so far than I have with the others, but I started out heavier...sigh.

Congrats Shanna! It's that word WORK that gets me. That means I have to put forth a lot of effort. And that takes motivation. I'm working on getting the motivation though, really, I am.
